The Young Leader Programme
Young Leaders are part of Girlguiding’s Senior Section for ages 14 to 25. They are part of the Leadership team of a Rainbow, Brownie or Guide unit. In this role they will learn to plan and run activities with the girls, and gain an understanding of the wider responsibilities of running a unit.
Find out more on the Girlguiding website.
Young Leaders can choose to undertake the Leadership schemes available to them and receive more structured Leadership training if they wish. These are the Young Leader Qualification (ages 14-16) and the Leadership Qualification (which is the scheme that adults complete) once they are over 16.
Each unit can have two Young Leaders, and in Blackamoor District we are lucky enough to have all these places currently filled.
If you are interested in becoming a Young Leader, and are not currently a member of Girlguiding, you can still apply to other districts by registering your interest.
If you are a member of Girlguiding already, talk to your Unit leader or District Commissioner and let them know that you are interested.
